I want to emphatically point out to us that as it was in the time of Christ’s resurrection, even today we find ourselves confused, lacking faith or just totally missing out on His visitation “…because you did not know the time of your visitation.” Luke 19:44
In John 20:9 “for as yet they knew not the scripture that He must rise again from the dead” while in Luke 24:5 they were asked “why do you seek the living among the dead?” points out to us the situation then
Rev 1:18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. The Risen Christ is revealed to us as He was revealed to them but the question is which category are you in? Below are some encounters
Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene from whom He had cast out 7 demons (Jn 20:11-18 Mk 16:9) by just looking and she recognized Him because she had resolved to follow Him daily after her deliverance
The women at Christ’s tomb early Easter morning (Matt 28:8-10) always in the Lords mission, saw Him and worshipped at His feet
The Emmaus Disciples (Luke 24:13-32) had several remarkable qualities, talking about Kingdom matters attracted the risen Christ Malachi 3:16 “Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.”
They invited Him into their house like good Christians V28&29 and the same night decided to go and encourage the disciples V33
The Eleven disciples minus Thomas John 20:19-23 seeing Jesus panicked and thought they had seen a ghost despite being with Jesus all these days. Means we can be with Jesus but never know Him
Thomas as a disciple carries the cup winning an award of the title “doubting Thomas” John 20:25 “The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.” This is the living room of many Christians today – big statements – No faith
Peter’s case was pathetic having denied Jesus thrice he decided to go back fishing (type of backsliding) which prompted Jesus to single him out in Mark 16:7 But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”
This encounter led eventually to the famous questions of Jesus to Peter – “do you love me more than these?” (John 21 & also Luke 24:34-41)
Remember to Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life. Prov 4:23
